Welcome to Cavalariça
Where heritage meets contemporary gastronomy, Cavalariça invites you on a culinary journey through the soul of Alentejo. Recommended by the MICHELIN Guide Portugal 2024, our restaurants in Comporta and Évora offer two distinct expressions of refined dining, each celebrating the region's rich biodiversity and cultural tapestry.
In Comporta, our original location established in 2017, an ancient stable has been transformed into an elegant dining sanctuary. Here, the historic horse boxes create intimate dining spaces where Chef João Carlos Monica crafts contemporary dishes that honour local ingredients while embracing international influences. From freshly caught Sesimbra fish to oysters from
the Sado River, each plate tells a story of our coastal heritage.

"At Cavalariça Comporta, hospitality flows naturally from our deep connection
to this special village. We take pride in welcoming both our cherished regulars, who've made us part of their Comporta lifestyle, and international guests discovering us for the first time. Our service style mirrors the region itself - refined yet relaxed, sophisticated yet warmly authentic. Whether you're a local dropping in for your favourite dish or a visitor from across the globe, we create an atmosphere where everyone feels like they belong, whilst maintaining the elevated experience our guests have come to expect."

In the UNESCO World Heritage city of Évora, Cavalariça found its second home within the 14th-century Palace of the Dukes of Cadaval. Under the creative direction of Executive Chef Catalina Viveros and the Chef Manager, Tomoe Hayase, the restaurant combines Alentejo's culinary traditions with global inspirations, served in a space where vibrant African art meets French design sophistication.

Both restaurants share an unwavering commitment to exceptional ingredients, carefully sourced from handpicked local producers. From organic vegetables to Mertolenga beef, from artisanal cheeses to fresh seafood, we celebrate the abundance of Alentejo's terroir.
At Cavalariça, time slows down. Here, dining is not just a meal – it's an experience where every detail matters, every flavour tells a story, and every visit creates a memory.
